Just finished watching Garage. Are you feeling bubbly and upbeat? Had a great day? Maybe it’s your birthday or you just got some great news? This is the show to bring you crashing back to earth…in fact, maybe bury you six feet under the earth.

As they say on IMDB, here come the spoilers. Set in the west of Ireland, the film covers a period of a few weeks in the life of Josie, a shop assistant in the eponymous garage. Only the occasional customer buying petrol interrupts his life of tedium in this one horse town. He lives on the premises and is abused by many of the townsfolk. That’s it – it doesn’t get any more exciting than that. And it’s all downhill from there!

The acting is standard stuff and while the cinematography is fairly decent, it certainly wouldn’t exactly encourage you to visit the area on holiday!

I’m really glad I rented this rather than buy it. If this is what the Irish Film Council is doing with their Lotto grants, I’m not buying any more tickets.
